解説(安達)/ Comment by Makoto Adachi
 Daedariaの東にできたダストストームが小さくなった。SPCは7月29日にClyde Foster氏が記録した状態が、今日も続いて

The dust storm in the east of Daedaria has become smaller. SPC shows that the state recorded by Mr. Clyde Foster on July 29
continued today. Mr. Eguchi's image is a figure that looks like a naturally close-looking image of a martian image seen with the
naked eye with a slightly darkened image.

Mars earlier this morning. Conditions were very poor,
but I wanted to check what was happening with the latest Solis Lacus storm.
It appears to still be active but may be reducing rather than increasing.
Other observations required to confirm.

Mars RGB and IR from yesterday evening shortly after closest approach.

We had some decent seeing despite the jetstream overhead at 14 degrees altitude. Here are an IR742 and an IR RGB image showing a reduction in the dust and familiar features emerging.

Here is an image of the hazy Martian atmosphere on the closest approach day 2018
from the Yaeyama islands in southern Japan.
I tried not to over-process this one and leave the natural "haziness" from the dust.

Visually the markings other than the polar cap and dark collar are only seen with a lot of attention:
they have perhaps 25% of the normal contrast ratio.

Mars on the night of closest approach showing very subdued markings in the visible
due to the recent global dust storm but much more detail with an Astronomik 742nm filter.
Not too bad for an altitude of only ~11ー though and so excited to see the Red Planet again after far too long

Certainly my best photo of Mars this year, many details easily visible both at the wavelength of visible and in the infrared.
Vallis Marineris stands out in the center of the photo as well as several other regions around him,
but what caught my attention was the presence of Olympus Mons at 10am as well as the 3 volcanoes of Tharsis a little more towards the center,
they can be seen easily as terrain elevations and not simple blemishes.
