Despite the innermost planet standing in the lowest parts of the ecliptic (about -25 means planet ist only about 12 degrees above horizion at noon) for my northern location I tried to find Mercury and hunted it down succesfully "digitially", which means found it sweeping the field with my DMK31. Observation is made with the Starfire 7" refractor, SC could not be used beacause sun would have been shining into tube. So although resolution is limited some bright spots are visible on Mercurys surface.
