ISS Image 2008/09/09(UT)
Ralf Vandebergh(250mm Newton)|
This is an image of the ISS taken during the current morning-window,in which I missed unfortunately
many passes due to the bad weather.Today it finally cleared up.
The image shows the ISS after the undocking of the ATV(Automated Transfer Vehicle)Jules Verne of ESA.
So the station is again in the old configuration, making it a little shorter at the Russian side.(top-right end
in the image)
The Canadarm 2 is not always easy visible in an ISS image taken from Earth, but sometimes, with the right observing
and lightning angle,it appears really well, like in this image. It's always surprising were the arm appears, with other words,
were they have moved it along the rails on the Integrated Truss structure. This time its on the Port side of the station,
the side were the Kibo Lab is pointed to in the image.(hand-guided using my 10inch Newton).
2008/09/09_ISS additional image with marked modules
Hi--here is another image of my Sept 9 session on the ISS.As the solar panels of the Russian Zvezda module are visible well
in this view,it's a good oppertunity to show what is about 30 metres at the Space Station.
(image as always;10inch Newtonian f/4.8/manually/hand-guided)
Attached is a last result from my ISS-imaging session on 2008/09/09.
Some nice detail can be seen on the Kibo lab,in the Russian modules, also
another good view of the robotic arm Canadarm 2.

subject:2008/09/09_ISS(Earthblue on the ISS)
The attached ISS image taken Sept 9 is processed with sligthly increased
color saturation to show a blue color reflection which might be possibly reflected Earth-blue.
General color of the station is white, exept the reddish-yellow solar pannels when they are in
good light(not in this particular image visible as the main panels are not seen from
a favourable angle).
